Medical Exam and Vaccination Certificate After Kuwait Scholarship Acceptance 2026/2027: What Is the Difference?

A guide for students and parents on the scholarship medical form, vaccination records and School Health procedures before the student visa and travel

Have you been accepted into a Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education overseas scholarship and started preparing your post-acceptance documents? Students and parents often ask whether the vaccination certificate is enough, whether the medical examination is completed in the same place, and what “the health office” actually means for scholarship students.

The medical examination, vaccination certificate, School Health review and Traveller Health Clinic are separate procedures. Each service has a different purpose, and each document may be used for the Kuwait scholarship file, the university, or the student visa. Completing them in the right order can prevent missing documents from delaying the rest of your study-abroad arrangements.

What is the difference between the medical exam and the vaccination certificate?

The Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education lists both the scholarship medical examination form and the complete Immunization Certificate among the documents required after scholarship acceptance. They are not the same document and they are not issued in the same way.

Scholarship medical examination form

This form is linked directly to the student’s scholarship procedures. The student prints it from the academic system under the section for completing accepted-student information, then visits the health facility named in the current instructions to complete the required checks and obtain the approved result or completed form.

Its purpose is to confirm that the student meets the health requirements for completing the scholarship file. Do not replace the official form with a general medical report or an old examination unless the responsible authority confirms that it will be accepted.

Complete vaccination certificate

The vaccination certificate is a separate record of the vaccines the student has received. Ministry of Higher Education instructions state that the Certificate of Immunization is obtained from a Preventive Health Centre.

For study abroad, this normally means the student’s complete vaccination history—not only a COVID-19 certificate. A university, residence provider or destination country may also request its own immunization form or additional doses based on the programme and destination.

School Health Centre

A School Health Centre is not a third document. It is the facility a student may be directed to for the scholarship medical examination when the Kuwait Ministry of Health announces the operating arrangements. The assigned centre may depend on the residential address recorded on the Civil ID and the instructions issued for the current scholarship season.

Preventive Health Centre and Traveller Health Clinic

The Preventive Health Centre is associated with vaccination records and any follow-up required by the health authority. The Traveller Health Clinic has a different role: it provides destination-specific health advice and travel vaccinations. It does not automatically replace the complete vaccination certificate required for the scholarship file.

Kuwait’s official Passenger Health service recommends seeking destination-specific vaccinations around two weeks before travel when they are required.

Is a disease-free certificate the same as the scholarship medical exam?

Not automatically. Kuwait Government Online provides a separate service through the General Medical Council for candidates travelling abroad to study. A student accepted into a Ministry of Higher Education scholarship should begin with the form and instructions shown in the academic system and should not substitute another certificate unless the responsible authority asks for it.

What is the correct order after scholarship acceptance?

Start with the requests shown in your student file. Visiting a centre before you have the correct forms may mean you have to return again.

1.    Log in to the academic system or Dayrah platform and review the accepted-student data section and any new requests.

2.    Print the medical examination form and the instructions linked to your file.

3.    Obtain your complete vaccination certificate from a Preventive Health Centre or through the official route specified by the Ministry of Health.

4.    Check your university and destination requirements, because the university may issue its own medical or immunization form.

5.    Follow the current Ministry of Health announcement for the assigned scholarship-student centre, opening hours and booking method.

6.    Attend in person with the original documents and the required copies.

7.    Complete the examinations and collect the result or approved form when instructed.

8.    Upload or submit the documents through the specified route, then follow the status in the system instead of leaving a request pending.

9.    Before travel, check for any additional health or vaccination requirements linked to the university, student visa or destination.

What should you take to the School Health Centre?

The final list depends on the current Ministry of Health announcement and the instructions in the student’s file. Prepare the following from the start:

·      Medical examination form: printed from the academic system.

·      Acceptance letter: the scholarship acceptance letter or proof of university admission if requested.

·      Civil ID: the original and a clear copy.

·      Passport: the original and a copy of the biodata page.

·      Vaccination certificate: the original or approved version, plus a copy.

·      Recent personal photograph: take more than one copy as a precaution.

·      Birth certificate: if it appears in the current instructions or the centre requests it.

·      University or embassy forms: if the university has issued a specific medical or immunization form.

·      Medical reports: if the student has a chronic condition or uses ongoing medication.

Do not rely on an old list of centres or opening hours. Locations, schedules, booking arrangements and required documents can change from one season to the next.

Where are the scholarship medical centres, and when do they open?

the Ministry of Health’s 2025 operating notice allocated eight locations across the governorates and linked each student to the residential address on the Civil ID:

·      Capital Governorate: Hamad Al-Saqer Health Centre in Adailiya.

·      Farwaniya Governorate: Al-Riggae Health Centre.

·      Hawalli Governorate: School Health Centre in Bayan.

·      Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate: School Health Centre in Adan.

·      Jahra Governorate: Jahra Health Complex and Mutlaa Health Centre.

·      Ahmadi Governorate: Fahaheel Health Centre and Sabah Al-Ahmad Health Centre, Sector D.

The 2025 timetable included morning sessions from Sunday to Thursday and selected evening sessions on certain days, with exceptions at some centres. This only shows how the previous service operated; it must not be used to book a 2026/2027 visit before the new Ministry of Health announcement is published.

How do you obtain a vaccination certificate in Kuwait?

Start with a Preventive Health Centre or the Ministry of Health vaccination-history service. Take your Civil ID and any previous vaccination card or record you still have. Ask for a complete record suitable for study-abroad requirements, not a one-dose certificate or a COVID-19 certificate only.

If the record is incomplete, some doses were received outside Kuwait, or the original booklet is missing, do not repeat vaccinations on your own. Give the health authority the records you have so it can review the dates and advise on the correct next step.

An electronic record is useful, but it does not guarantee acceptance by every authority. The Ministry of Higher Education, health centre or university may require a paper certificate, official stamp, translation or university-specific form. The official sources reviewed do not publish one universal expiry period for the scholarship vaccination certificate; the requesting authority may decide how recent the record or particular doses must be.

Do procedures change by study destination?

Visa Medical and Vaccination Requirements by Study Destination

United Kingdom

Completing the Kuwait scholarship medical exam does not automatically mean you need a tuberculosis test for a UK Student visa. GOV.UK currently requires a TB test when all relevant conditions apply, including a stay in the UK of six months or more and qualifying residence in a listed country. Kuwait is not on the current country list, so a student who has lived only in Kuwait would not normally need a TB test on that basis. If the student has lived for the qualifying period in a listed country, the case must be checked against the official rules. When a TB test is required and clear, the certificate is valid for six months from the date of the chest X-ray.

United States

The official F and M student-visa page does not list a general medical examination among the standard published steps for a nonimmigrant student visa. Do not confuse this process with the medical examination for a US immigrant visa, which follows different medical and vaccination rules. A US university may still require childhood immunization records or its own Immunization Form before registration, clinical placement or student housing, so university requirements remain separate from visa requirements.

Australia

The Australian Department of Home Affairs may ask a temporary visa applicant to complete health examinations. The required checks depend on the visa and the applicant’s circumstances. If an examination is required outside Australia, it must be completed by a doctor or clinic on the Department’s approved panel—not at any hospital chosen by the student.

New Zealand

Immigration New Zealand may require a medical examination, chest X-ray or both, depending on the student’s circumstances and intended stay. For a student visa, Immigration New Zealand may advise the applicant after submission whether an examination is needed. When an examination or X-ray is required, the student must use an approved panel physician or radiologist where one is available.

The key point is that the Kuwait scholarship examination, the university’s medical or immunization form, and the destination country’s visa examination are three separate routes. They may use some of the same information, but one does not replace another unless the requesting authority confirms it.

Everything You Need to Know About Medical Checks and Vaccinations

Clear answers about documents, missing doses, appointments, and university and visa requirements before travel.

Should I prepare the vaccinations or the medical exam first?

Start by checking the academic system and printing the medical form. In practical terms, prepare the complete vaccination certificate before visiting the School Health Centre because it may be required during the medical procedure.

Is the electronic vaccination record enough?

The electronic service can show the vaccination history, but the accepted format depends on the Ministry of Higher Education, the health centre and the university. Do not rely on a phone screenshot if an approved paper certificate or officially issued copy is required.

Is the vaccination certificate the same as a COVID-19 certificate?

No. The certificate required for the scholarship file usually means the complete immunization history, while a COVID-19 certificate records one type of vaccination. Use the Certificate of Immunization or other record named by the responsible authority.

Do all childhood vaccinations need to be complete?

The Ministry of Higher Education asks for a complete vaccination certificate. Some universities, particularly in the United States, also review childhood vaccinations and specific diseases on their own forms. The health authority or university decides which missing doses must be addressed.

What should I do if some vaccinations are missing?

Take the available record to a Preventive Health Centre. The health authority will decide which doses are missing or appropriate based on age, medical history and destination requirements. Do not choose or repeat doses by yourself.

What if my vaccination certificate is lost?

Request a replacement or official vaccination history through a Preventive Health Centre or the available government service. Start the request before your medical appointment instead of waiting until the last minute.

Does the vaccination certificate need translation or attestation?

The Ministry of Higher Education asks for a Certificate of Immunization, but the required format, translation and stamp can vary by student file and university. If the university sends an English form, complete it exactly as requested rather than assuming the Arabic certificate is sufficient.

Does the vaccination certificate expire?

No universal expiry period was found in the reviewed official sources for the scholarship vaccination certificate. A university may require recent tests or doses, so check its own form and instructions.

Can I complete the scholarship medical exam at a private hospital?

Do not assume that a report from any hospital will be accepted. Use the centre or authority named in the academic-system instructions or the current Ministry of Health announcement.

Do I need an appointment?

The reception and booking process can change from one scholarship season to another. Follow the current Ministry of Health announcement and the official appointment service before visiting.

Do all health centres receive scholarship students?

No. The Ministry of Health designates particular locations according to the season and governorate. Do not visit the nearest general health centre until you confirm that it is on the current list.

Can I attend a centre in another governorate?

The previous distribution was linked to the address on the Civil ID. If you need a different centre, confirm the arrangement with the Ministry of Health or the centre before travelling there.

Can a parent attend instead of the student?

Previous operating notices required the student to attend in person for the medical checks. A parent can help prepare the documents, but cannot replace the student during the examination.

Do I need to fast before the medical exam?

No general published rule requires every scholarship student to fast. Follow the centre’s instructions for the particular test and do not stop medication or alter your treatment without medical advice.

How long does the result take?

There is no single published processing time. It depends on the tests, whether the documents are complete, and whether further investigation or review is required. Start early and do not base travel bookings on an estimated date.

Is the scholarship medical examination free?

No single published fee was found for the School Health scholarship examination route. Do not confuse it with the General Medical Council’s disease-free certificate, which has separately published fees.

Will I need blood tests or a chest X-ray?

The tests required for the scholarship route depend on the official form and the student’s case. The separate disease-free certificate service lists a chest X-ray, urine test and viral blood screening, but that list should not automatically be applied to every scholarship student.

Can I use an old medical report?

Do not replace the Ministry form with an old report unless the responsible authority approves it. Visa authorities may also apply their own rules about how recent a medical result must be.

Is the scholarship medical examination the same as the visa medical?

No. The scholarship examination serves the Kuwait scholarship file. An immigration authority may require a different examination through one of its approved clinics. Depending on the country and the applicant, there may be no additional examination—or one may be required.

Is the expatriate medical examination the same as the scholarship exam?

No. The expatriate medical examination is a different service connected to residency and work in Kuwait. Scholarship students follow the Ministry of Higher Education form and the scholarship-student centres, plus any visa-health route required by the destination country.

Is the disease-free certificate the same as the scholarship exam?

It is not an automatic substitute. The disease-free certificate is issued through the General Medical Council, while the scholarship medical form is obtained through the academic system. Use the document shown in your file or requested by the official authority.

Does the Traveller Health Clinic replace the vaccination certificate?

No. Traveller Health addresses destination risks and travel vaccinations. Kuwait’s official service recommends visiting around two weeks before travel when destination-specific vaccines are needed. The complete vaccination certificate remains a separate document for the scholarship or university file.

What do students mean by “the health office”?

The phrase is used informally and may refer to a Preventive Health Centre for vaccination records, a School Health Centre for the scholarship medical exam, the General Medical Council for a disease-free certificate, or a Traveller Health Clinic. Identify the exact document first so you visit the correct service.

Does a chronic illness prevent scholarship acceptance?

A chronic condition does not automatically mean the scholarship will be refused. Take your medical reports and prescriptions, disclose the condition accurately, and follow the medical authority’s decision and the official instructions for your file.

Do medical and clinical programmes have extra requirements?

They may. Some universities and clinical-placement programmes require additional vaccinations or tests before students enter hospitals or other clinical settings. These are academic or clinical requirements and are separate from the basic scholarship documents.

Where do I upload the medical examination result?

Follow the accepted-student completion section and the instructions shown in the academic system or Dayrah. If no upload field appears or the request remains pending, contact the responsible authority instead of keeping only the paper copy.

Can delayed vaccinations or medical checks delay the visa and travel?

Yes, if the result or certificate is needed before another scholarship, university or visa step can be completed. Begin as soon as the request appears rather than waiting until the travel date is close.

When should I start the health procedures?

Start as soon as the requests appear in the system after scholarship acceptance. Do not postpone the medical examination and vaccination documents until after beginning the visa or shortly before travel, because missing information can hold up later steps.
